On Perfume Making - new book by perfumer Frederic Malle
"Perfume...can make a woman feel sexy...like a frame for a beautiful painting." --Frederic Malle
Frenchman Frederic Malle, the driving force behind the Editions de Parfums that he began in 2000, launched his first book "Frederic Malle: On Perfume Making" (Angelika) this week at Barney's on Madison Avenue. The book gives the reader a look into the process involved in creating the perfect fragrance. The forward is written by Catherine Deneuve (actress and Chanel No5 model), and illustrations were done by Konstantin Kakanias. In the book, Malle provides his fragrance formulas with breakdowns of each ingredient, where to buy them and their cost, showing the business side of perfumery rather than romanticizing the process.
Pre-order the book "Frederic Malle: On Making Perfume" for $150 from Angelika Books.
Earlier this year Frederic Malle launched the Editions de Parfums home fragrance collection.
